Selecting your type of RV
Expander: An expander, also known as an expandable caravan or hybrid caravan, is a type of caravan that combines the features of a traditional caravan with the ability to expand its living space. These vehicles typically feature fold-out beds or sections that can be extended to create additional sleeping or living areas.
Motorhome: A motorhome is a self-contained mobile home on wheels. It combines living quarters with a motorised vehicle, allowing occupants to travel and live comfortably on the road. Motorhomes usually include amenities such as sleeping areas, kitchen facilities, a bathroom, and dining/lounge spaces.
Pop-top: A pop-top, also called a pop-up camper, is a type of camper trailer that features a roof that can be raised or "popped up" to provide additional headroom and living space.
Soft-floor camper trailer: A soft-floor camper trailer is a type of camping trailer that features a soft or flexible floor, typically made of canvas. These trailers usually have a fold-out design that allows for easy setup, and they often include sleeping areas, kitchen facilities, storage, and sometimes even a dining/lounge space.
Hard-floor camper trailer: A hard-floor camper trailer is a camping trailer that features a solid, rigid floor instead of a flexible one. They often have a fold-out design for easy setup.
Toy hauler: A toy hauler is a type of RV or trailer designed to transport motorcycles, ATVs, or other "toys." Toy haulers typically have a rear garage area with a large ramp door for loading and unloading, which can also serve as additional living space once the toys are removed. They also include separate living quarters.
Fifth wheel: A fifth wheel is a type of towable RV that is designed to be towed by a pickup truck with a specialised fifth wheel hitch. Fifth wheels are characterized by their unique "gooseneck" hitch, which extends over the bed of the truck.
Campervan: A campervan is a compact RV that is typically based on a standard van chassis. Campervans are designed to provide basic accommodations for camping and traveling, usually including a bed, a small kitchenette, and sometimes a portable toilet. They are a driveable home on wheels but not often as spacious and packed with facilities like a motorhome.
Tow vehicle: A tow vehicle refers to a vehicle that is used to tow a camper trailer or caravan behind it. It can be any vehicle capable of pulling the weight of the trailer, such as a truck, SUV, or even a car with the appropriate towing capacity.
Other: This section allows you to list with Camplify if you are unsure of the type of RV you have. Please contact Camplify once you have completed your listing so we can assist you list in the correct category as hirers may not easily find your vehicle using the search function.
Berths
The term "berths" refers to the sleeping accommodations or sleeping spaces available in your RV. It indicates the number of people who can sleep comfortably in the vehicle. Each berth typically represents a separate sleeping area or bed.
Internal berths refer to sleeping spaces inside the main living area of the camping vehicle. These berths are often found in the form of fixed beds or convertible seating areas that can be transformed into beds. If the vehicle can sleep 4 people inside then it would be considered “4 berths.”
External berths, refer to sleeping spaces outside the main living area of the camping vehicle. These berths are typically found in the form of rooftop tents.
Setting your location
Hirers will arrive at the location specified in your account for a handover during each RV rental. It is crucial to provide accurate information, as it will impact search results and the details given to the hirer. Camplify will not disclose this information to hirers.
Selecting your RV hire type
There are 3 methods of hiring out your RV and you can choose from Drive, Stay, or Deliver. Consider that you will need to do a handover in person at the location specified.
- Drive - Hirers drive your RV on their adventure.
- Stay - Hirers stay in your on-site RV. Recommended for owners who have fixed caravans on their property.
- Deliver - Drop off and set up your RV at an agreed caravan park, campsite, or location. Hirers are not able to move their RV on this type of booking.
Minimum days
Camplify has a minimum of 2 days for a booking. By keeping your minimum set to 2 days, owners are likely to receive more bookings however will need to manage a larger amount of inquiries, cleaning, and handovers.
Consider if you would like people to go away for a weekend or prefer a longer trip at the risk of fewer bookings.
Linen
Owners have the option to include linen at either no cost, a fee (recommended $10 per bed), or exclude it from hire. Linen refers to everything that would typically go on a bed during a stay and includes sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels. Owners should clearly inform hirers if they intend to not include any of these items so they can prepare for their adventure.
Hiring rules
When renting out your RV through Camplify, it's essential to establish specific hiring rules to ensure a smooth experience for both you and the hirer. While Camplify provides a standard set of Terms and Conditions for hirers and owners, adding your own hiring rules will encourage responsible hirers and minimise the risk of damage to your RV. Here are some common categories and examples of hiring rules you can consider:
Examples
EMERGENCY: If you have any concerns, an engine warning light appears or an accident occurs, please pull over and call the owner for assistance once all occupants are safe. Hirers can call 03 668 1211, Option 4 for roadside assistance.
For all written communication between hirers and owners, please use the Camplify App.
General rules:
- No off-road driving
- No smoking inside the RV
- No off-road/beach driving/extended unsealed roads (over 7km)
- No pets, or pets allowed only upon application
- Hirer age restrictions (as set by the owner)

Pricing your listing
While pricing is completely up to you, here are some suggestions for approaching your pricing strategy.
Example pricing breakdown
Research local competition
Look for similar vehicles in your area, consider what they include, and how much they charge. Of course, we recommend you research other local vans on Camplify as your first check.
You can also research other local competitors such as motorhome hire companies and rideshares to get a feel for acceptable rental pricing in your area.
Industry bodies like the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment also offer some great resources and insights into the travel sector and you can stay informed on travel trends and spend by area.
Service fee
The service fee is a one-time fee per booking to cover cleaning, restocking, perishables, and wear and tear.
We recommend setting this to approximately 50% of your daily fee, or a maximum of $100 per day.
You can choose to set your service fee to $0 and increase your daily rate instead.
Extra products
You can offer a selection of extra products at a fee of your choice. You can charge for items such as generators, bike racks, and BBQs.
A good rule of thumb for additional products is to include the standard, basic items that a hirer will need for their trip, but any high-value or experience-boosting items attract additional fees.
Delivery fee
The delivery fee is a once-off charge for the total distance to deliver an RV. E.g. (100km drop off x $0.75) x 2 trips = $150.
Seasonal pricing
We offer the flexibility to change your pricing based on calendar dates. Generally, most owners review pricing based on peak periods. We recommend increasing your ‘default’ pricing by around 10-15% for shoulder periods and 30% for peak periods. For example:
- $100 off-peak
- $115 shoulder
- $130 peak
Peak periods are indicated on your calendar by a yellow mark and include dates such as:
- School holidays
- Public holidays
- Local events
- Christmas, NYE, and Easter
Additional kilometre charge
Many “Drive” only vehicles will travel long distances, rapidly increasing the frequency of needing maintenance. You can charge for additional kilometres, which is documented on the pre and post-hire checklist.
Pricing will be based on the type of drivable vehicle you are hiring and the cost of maintenance. Camplify recommends an average of 0.75c per KM over your daily limit.
Deals, discounts, and special offers
You can offer deals to increase bookings during low periods. Some owners provide discounts to friends and family, or content creators in exchange for photos, videos, and being tagged on social media.
This is also a great way to get some incredible photos to include on your listing! As we know listings with great photos attract more hirers and get more bookings.
To apply a discount, you can reduce your daily rate before accepting the booking or contact us via Live Chat with the booking number and details.
Cleaning fee
You are expected to clean between hires for hygiene and tidiness, however a cleaning fee can be charged for excessive cleaning. Some hirers may opt to pay this upon booking. In some circumstances, Camplify can be notified that a cleaning fee will need to be charged as a part of the post-hire checklist damage process and will be reviewed by our team.
As a general expectation for owners when considering a cleaning fee:

Naming your listing
When listing your RV on Camplify, it's essential to choose a creative and unique name that not only captures its personality but also sets it apart from other listings. Instead of just mentioning the brand, year, and make, consider using puns and play-on-words to give your listing character. Before finalising your RV’s name, check to make sure it hasn’t been used already so that hirers can identify your unique RV.
Describe why your RV is great
When listing your RV on Camplify, creating an engaging and informative description is crucial to attract potential hirers. Start with a captivating introduction and highlight a unique or charming feature of your RV to capture their attention.
- Vehicle size
- Bedding configuration/berths
- Kitchen/cooking/food preparation inclusions
- Ensuite/water setup
- Power/solar/gas setup
- Towing suitability/set up (if applicable)
- Any other key features, such as awning, BBQ, number of chairs/seating, etc.
- If you have any strict rules or holiday types you wish to highlight i.e. pet-friendly, not suitable for festivals, minimum booking nights, suitable for long trips, etc.
- The more personality you can add to your listing, the better. This helps hirers understand what type of holidays your van is best suited for.
Emphasise the comfort and convenience of your RV, and mention any features that will make the trip more enjoyable. It's also a good idea to mention its suitability for different types of trips, such as weekend getaways, family vacations, or extended road trips.
Tailoring your description to your target audience is also important. Consider the type of hirer you want to attract and adjust your description accordingly. By creating an appealing and detailed description, you can showcase your RV's best features and convince potential hirers that it's the perfect choice for their trip.
Example

Additional information
When creating a listing on Camplify, providing detailed additional information can help potential hirers understand your expectations and what's included with the hire. Outline your expectations for the RV's return condition, such as cleanliness, fuel levels, and any specific cleaning tasks hirers should complete. Managing your calendar
It is essential to keep your RV's calendar updated to let Camplify hirers know when your listing is unavailable and ensure it won't show up in search results. Camplify suggests that you block days after larger bookings to catch up on maintenance and minor repairs.
Some reasons you might want to block your calendar include:
- Taking your own holiday
- Scheduled maintenance or servicing
- Unable to do a handover due to absence
- Needing the RV for a portion of the day, requiring a full 24-hour block
If you change your mind and want to make the dates available again, just follow the same process below and select "available." Keep in mind that when you save your preferences, it will update the other fields selected.
Updating your calendar
To update your calendar you must use the Camplify website, which can be accessed on your desktop or handheld device. Please note that this function is not currently available via the Camplify Owners App.
By accessing the calendar, you can:
- Block or unblock your calendar

Steps
- Log in to your Camplify Dashboard on your computer and select the calendar next to the listing you wish to edit or select “Calendar” from the navigation bar.
- Simply click and drag your mouse from the start date to the end date. You can also manually select the start and end dates of adjustment in the information box.
- Update the required fields, noting that it will affect all dates within the range selected.
- Click "Save".
How to upload photos to your listing
Photos are the most critical aspect of your Camplify listing to attract potential hires. By having great photos, hirers can see what you have to offer before they book. Owners can select a header image and up to 20 additional photos to upload.
Owners should never upload stock images or other owners' photos to their listing as it isn't an accurate representation of the van and is a breach of Camplify terms. Screenshots must also be avoided and the original image should be uploaded as the quality is reduced and private images and information are often included in the screenshot.
We've put together a Camplify photography guide and editing guide to help you take the best photos for your van listing. You are far more likely to get bookings if you have a great range of photos of your van included.
Check out the Photo Guide here and the Photo Editing Guide here.
To update your photos:
- Select “Manage” next to the listing you wish to edit.
- Scroll down to "Images" and select "Edit".
- Upload a "Header Image" - this is the main image on your listing and the first image seen by hirers however by default, your first image in “additional images” will be your header image.
- Scroll to "Additional Images".
- Click "To upload images click or drop here" - you can upload up to 20 images. It is recommended that you click and upload 4 images at a time.
- Wait for the banner on the photo to change from "Cancel Upload" to "Remove Photo."
- Rearrange the images by clicking and dragging each image.
- Click "Save."
- Repeat these steps if you are uploading only 4 at a time.
Troubleshooting:
- Try restarting your device and logging back in. Sometimes your browser may have issues.
- Ensure there is no “blocker” installed in your browser that is stopping the upload.
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection. If it is interrupted, the upload will fail.
- Upload a maximum of 4 images at a time.
- Limit image file sizes to less than 4 MB.

- All tow vehicles must have Camplify Premium Membership.
- All tow vehicles must have a GPS installed.
- It is not necessary to have another RV listed on Camplify to list a tow vehicle.
