How the rules apply to you
Owners are legally obligated to provide Camplify with the below tax information.
- Name (as provided to the IRD)
- Tax file (IRD) number
- GST registration status
Camplify requires the tax information to ensure IRD reporting is accurate. You must also tell us straight away if your GST registration status changes. Failure to keep your details updated can result in your listing being removed from search results.
To update your tax information login to your account here and select; Profile Image / Account / Tax Information.
Camplify Platform
Camplify does not collect and remit GST on your behalf. The special flat-rate scheme does not currently apply because peer-to-peer sharing of recreational vehicles is not a listed service covered by the scheme. Refer to Sharing Assets Excluding Accommodation
Camplify does collect and remit GST on the platform services it provides to owners and hirers e.g. on booking fees and commission.

Certificates and safety
As per our NZ Owner Terms, owners must maintain all necessary certifications required by legislation and regulations including (without limitation):
-
a valid certificate of fitness for drivable vehicles
-
warrant of fitness for towable vehicles
-
electrical warrant of fitness (EWOF) if your vehicle is being plugged into an external power source
-
gas safety certificate
If your vehicle is listed as self contained please make sure you can provide supporting paperwork at all times.
Certificate of Fitness (COF)
All drivable hire vehicles such as motorhomes and campervans are legally required to obtain a Certificate of Fitness (CoF) to make sure the vehicle meets safety standards for hire.
This must take place in 6-monthly intervals and supersedes your current Warrant of Fitness (WoF). Owners will need to book an inspection and provide a Transport Service License Number on arrival.
All owners are required to send a photo of their RV’s Certificate of Fitness and Expiry Date before you can accept a booking to customersupport@camplify.co.nz. The team will save this on your RV Listing.
Vehicles without a valid COF will not be covered under MyWay Protect in the event damage occurs. Towable vehicles such as caravans and camper trailers can remain on a Warrant of Fitness (WOF).
To find a provider near you see:
Transport Service Licence (TSL)
To hire your vehicle you need to update its usage and operate under a Transport Service License (TSL).
This is a one-off fee and permits multiple vehicles on the one license.
You can either apply for your own TSL or operate using the Camplify Transport License at no charge. If you are running multiple vehicles under a business name we encourage owners to operate using your own TSL. To operate using your own TSL you need to send a copy of your Transport Service License to customersupport@camplify.co.nz
Please reach out to the team once you have completed your listing to obtain Camplify’s TSL Number prior to your inspection.

Road User Charges (RUCs)
Anyone using New Zealand’s roads pays a Road User Charge as a tax towards upkeep. Road user charges are distance-based and are purchased in multiples of 1,000 kilometres from the NZ Transport Agency (and approved road user charges agents).
Owners need to pre-purchase a set amount of RUCs to ensure themselves and their guests are always within the legal limit while travelling.
The guest will need to pay back the amount that is used on their journey. This will be calculated and charged by the owner via the post-hire checklist at the rate of $0.09 per kilometre driven.
Owners should advertise the RUCs on their listing and take a picture of the vehicle's odometer upon handover and on the return of the vehicle.
The photos can be attached and uploaded on the pre/post-hire checklists. Failure to record odometer reading will result in RUCs not being charged.
NZMCA memberships
NZMCA memberships are non-transferable. This means your guest won’t have access to the benefits you receive as an NZMCA member.
Prior to hire, you must remove your membership card, travel directory, and any other NZMCA materials from your vehicle.
Camplify provides reusable adhesive cover-up stickers to cover membership wings if required. To request these please email the team customersupport@camplify.co.nz
